There's a line in The Sweet Potato Queens that says all women should get a crown and name themselves the queen of something. So I did.
I've always felt regal, probably because I'm the oldest of three sisters. On Saturday mornings I would don my royal apparel, (bedspread cape) and make my little sisters serve me Cocopuffs on a tv tray while we watched cartoons.
Now my friends give me queen stuff like crown ornaments. I even have a "Kiss my Tiara" t-shirt. But I'm not sure over what I reign. Not root vegetables; or any festival. Parades are good though. Marching bands are good too. A parade for the queen of Royal Cove Drive. That works.

Hi Queenie,
Read your blog and added it to my Google home page so that I will see when you update it!
I have a few memories that stay with me from kindergarten. One was playing Queen for a Day on the playground. I seem to remember always being the winner. Maybe it has something to do with being a child of the 50's.
For a little historical trivia...
